Monday 30 August, 2010
I made a new blog, for quick 14 minute drawings. I want to keep my brain active/do appealing things so I thought of giving myself the task of doing a daily sketch as I like it when artists do that. And 10 mins is too hard. Hopefully I'll show some sort of improvement and keep at this. WE SHALL SEE. The blog can be found here.

The Shutter Pirates kindly featured me on their blog today, put a few of my photos up and gave me a very kind write up. And apparently check back for art next week! Thanks again Tim, little ripper. You can see my photos here and I highly recommend checking the blog on the regular as they update it heaps.

The new Tatty's is open! 47 High Street, Auckland. It's incredible, pop down in your lunch break. I've almost finished everything, here are some photos:

Haven't updated for a while sorry. Been super busy with lots of things, none of which I can post here until they're all out and things. Cool story. Do You Mind went really well, thanks for going along if you did. If anyone if interested in purchasing a painting let me know, I have a few left but they'll be gone soon. I am also going to be hanging some paintings in Agnes Curran this week so pop along for a coffee and have a look!

Another picture from 'Do You Mind?'. I keep forgetting to take my camera along to take photos of the work all framed and on the walls. Go along! Or you'll miss out ya dingus.

Also I was interviewed for Nightline the other night, you can watch the video here. Thanks to Tim for that.

Look you guys, Xiu Xiu are coming! Isn't that great. Do You Mind? opened last night, it was a great night, the show truly truly looks amazing. Everyone involved did a fantastic job. I strongly suggest you go along to see it.

I made a fan page on facebook for my art, feel free to 'become a fan'- just search for Henrietta Harris Illustration in the search bar of your facebook page. And don't forget Do You Mind? starts next week!

I designed a t-shirt for best band ever The Mint Chicks, you can pre-order it here.

I think they may be making another variation too, with just the line-drawing of that painting. Here's a nice closeup:

Hey dudes. Dropped off my paintings for the upcoming show 'Do You Mind?' yesterday (my flatmate kindly helped me, I owe him a pudding now), they look killer. If I may say so. Killer.

Is anyone in Brisbane? I have a piece in a show which opens on the 3rd of July, called 'Minus Canvas'. The idea was to create work on anything except canvas. So I used the thoroughly underused and original medium of paper.

Adele Hunter-Higgins and I collaborated on this cartoon for Real Groove Magazines 'Great Moments In Rock History', a fictional event which may have happened on the back inside cover of every Real Groove. It came out today, here's a scan:
And here's Adele's writing:
And so, Chrissie Hynde's judgement upon him, Paul Gustave Simonon forwent becoming an extremely handsome bassist for The Clash and forged a new, extremely handsome career path...
Extremely Handsome Pigeon Shooter. Perhaps he was venting his frustration; perhaps he just didn't like their beady little eyes. It was a career that proved troublesome for Simonon, who was arrested and charged with criminal damage for shooting racing pigeons from a rooftop. Actually. Look it up.
One (extremely handsome) Half of Simonon and Garfunkel. Simonon and Garfunkel's harmonies were as tight as their relationship was dysfunctional. Simonon was held largely responsible for the band's later reggae direction.
A Handsome Gorilla, Or Something. Probably just for kicks. All a bit of a blur.

You can see a picture I did for the brain show in the latest Idealog magazine, right on the back page. Here's a scan:
And here's a better picture of it:
Monday 14 June, 2010
I'm in a show from the 29th of July until the 7th August, not to give too much away at this stage but it's called 'Do You Mind' and we (the artists) have been paired up with scientists from the Centre for Brain Research at the University of Auckland, to research and create works based on the brain. I've finished my artworks already because I'm a pro/became obsessed with the path I decided to explore (if you will) so am itching to show people. But, tough. Can't. I made about 15 pieces but am going to exhibit five or six of them. One of the works will be in the next Idealog magazine, I'll scan it when it comes out. You can keep up to date with the project here and it's going to be held in that new building on K RD, Iron Bank.
That's all for now. Hope you're all well.
